Tatami

This unique collection is inspired by the highly treasured, traditional Japanese tatami mats. From the 12th century to the 17th century, tatami mats were considered luxurious floor coverings. The mats were in the homes of Japanese royalty and religious leaders. The color of the fabric on the edges of the mats indicated the rank of the individual or the prestige of the family owning them. The patterns in the Tatami collection are understated and accented with stitched cloth borders.

  • Wilton woven in Belgium of entangled jute and polypropylene yarns
